I am a qualified and professionally trained counsellor/psychotherapist, based in Farnham, Surrey. I have experience of working with both adults and teenagers 16+ with issues such as depression, generalised anxiety disorder, stress, low self-esteem, bereavement, relationship issues and family dynamics. I offer online counselling as well as face to face in a calm and welcoming environment.

You might feel worried or unsure about starting counselling and sometimes just making the decision to ask for help can feel like a big, scary step. Counselling can help you become more in touch with yourself and the relationships that are important to you. It can help you shed some light on why you are feeling the way you are and this in turn can help things change.

"I would say that my experience with Katy has been entirely positive, has helped me to understand myself and the issues I was experiencing with greater clarity". M.D.

When you tell me about you, it helps me understand what it is like being you. I am not a friend or a family member; I am here to listen to you as it comes; unfiltered. Part of my role is to reflect back what I see and hear and I am able to offer a different perspective because I am not emotionally involved in your life. You could say that I am like a facilitator of your relationship with yourself. Sometimes people tell me, "I never thought of it like that" - this allows you see with fresh eyes. This insight can allow things to shift and change. You can move from a place of feeling anxious, sad, confused and not being able to see a way out, to finding some clarity on why you got here and together we can explore how you would like that to be different.

"I felt comfortable speaking openly and honestly about anything I wished, without feeling judged and ultimately walked away from the sessions feeling happier in myself" H.S.

Why counselling?
As a counsellor, I was drawn into therapeutic world having supported young people with a variety of special needs for 10 years. I wanted to nurture the unique and special nature of that one to one relationship. I am passionate about the benefits of talking therapy. In my mind, there is nothing more powerful than two people sitting opposite each other in a room; one person being truly listened to, without judgement or criticism.

Who I See
I offer counselling to individuals online and face to face. I work with adults and teenagers/young people 16+ for both long and short term work.

If you are looking for warm and professional counselling support, we can walk through this together. I am available for online appointments; daytime and limited evenings.
